After years of planning and preparation, the dream of hosting the Centre for Olympic Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University finally came true. The Centre was formally opened on March 3rd, 2007. We firmly believe that the Centre will serve not only the sports professionals but also the general public well, especially during the leading up to the 2008 Olympics Games in Beijing. The Olympic movement is also a cultural festival and for this legacy to continue in the Chinese community, the Centre will continue to provide useful and update information in this area. We have made a humble start but are confident that with your support, we shall continue to face the challenges of meeting the needs of the sports family and the general public.

We are indebted to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, SAR Government of Hong Kong for providing the seeded money for purchasing books, to Hong Kong Baptist University for providing the venue and financial support, to Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong China for her blessing, to the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong for her endorsement, and to our HKBU colleagues headed by Professor Leung Meelee, for their unfailing support of this project. Last but not the least, to Dr. A. de O' Sales, the Honorary Life President of SF & OC, for his inspiration and encouragement. We hope that you would enjoy using our Centre and please do not hesitate to call upon our Centre staff for assistance.
